The Sacred Birth and Glory of Lord Shree Ganesha
Ganesh Jayanti is one of the most auspicious festivals in Sanatan Dharma, celebrating the divine appearance of Lord Shree Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, the god of wisdom, intelligence, prosperity, and auspicious beginnings. This sacred day symbolizes devotion, duty, sacrifice, forgiveness, and divine grace.
BIRTH OF LORD GANESHA BY MATA PARVATI
Once upon a divine time, Mata Parvati resided on Mount Kailash with Lord Mahadev (Shiva). One day, when Lord Shiva had gone into deep meditation, Mata Parvati wished to take a bath. Wanting privacy and safety, she decided to create a guardian.
Using the pure turmeric paste (haldi) from her body, mixed with sandalwood and her divine energy, Mata Parvati molded a beautiful boy. She breathed life into the figure, and thus a radiant child was born.
She lovingly said:
“You are my son. Guard the door and allow no one inside while I bathe.
The boy bowed and stood firm at the entrance, unaware of the world but filled with devotion toward his mother.
MAHADEV AND GANESHA – THE GREAT CONFLICT
After some time, Lord Shiva returned to Kailash and wished to enter the house. However, the young boy stood in his way and firmly declared:
“No one may enter. This is my mother’s command.”
Lord Shiva, surprised and angered by the boy’s courage, tried to pass through, but the child stood unwavering. Soon, Shiva’s ganas (attendants) attacked the boy, but to their astonishment, the child defeated them all with divine strength.
The conflict intensified. Even Indra, Varuna, Agni, Vayu, and other celestial gods failed to defeat the boy. Finally, enraged and unaware that the child was Parvati’s son, Lord Shiva unleashed his Trishul.
With a single strike, the boy’s head was severed.
PARVATI MATA’S GRIEF AND COSMIC DISASTER
When Mata Parvati emerged and saw her son lifeless, her sorrow turned into fierce rage. She revealed the truth:
“This was my son, born of my own divine power!”
Her grief shook the universe. Mountains trembled, oceans rose, and creation faced destruction. Mata Parvati threatened to dissolve the cosmos if her son was not restored to life.
Lord Shiva realized his grave mistake and bowed before Parvati, promising to bring the child back to life.
THE BIRTH OF GAJAMUKHA GANESHA
Lord Shiva instructed his ganas:
“Bring the head of the first living being you find, facing north.”
The ganas soon returned with the head of a divine elephant, symbolizing wisdom, strength, memory, and compassion.
Lord Shiva placed the elephant head on the child’s body and infused him with divine life. The child rose again, glowing with celestial energy.
Thus was born Shri Gajanan, Gajamukha, Vinayaka, Ganapati.
GANESHA HONORED AND PRAISED BY ALL GODS
